Independence Day Celebrations!!!

When he became the first batsman to score 50 hundreds in international cricket, Sachin Tendulkar established himself as the greatest of all Indian cricketers. Recognised by Sir Donald Bradman as his modern incarnation, Tendulkar has a skill – a genius – which only a handful have possessed. It was not a skill that he was simply born with, but one which was developed by his intelligence and an infinite capacity for taking pains. If there is a secret, it is that Tendulkar has the keenest of cricket minds. At times in a Test series he looks mortal. But he learns every lesson, picks up every cue, dominates the opposing attack sooner or later, and nearly always makes a hundred. His bravery was proved after he was hit on the head on his Test debut in Pakistan, when he was only 16; and his commitment to the Indian cause has never been in doubt

If captaincy – or rather the off-field management of men less skilled than himself – was beyond him at his first attempt, his reading of the game, and his manifold varieties of bowling, have shown the same acute intelligence. His cricket has been played in the right way too, always attacking, and because he knew that was the right way rather than because he was a child of the one-day age, as he himself modestly said. The awe of opponents was as great as that of crowds. But the finest compliment must be that bookmakers would not fix the odds – or a game – until Tendulkar was out

Just have look at the records held by Sachin Tendulkar

Good going…

Chak De India!!!

Here are some words that people used to describe this master

In terms of technique and compactness, Tendulkar is the best: Desmond Haynes

I have watched a lot of Tendulkar and we have spoken to each other a lot. He has it in him to be among the very best: Sir Garfield Sobers

He is 99.5 per cent perfect. I’d pay to see him: Viv Richards

I saw him playing on television and was struck by his technique, so I asked my wife to come look at him. Now I never saw myself play, but I feel that this player is playing much the same as I used to play, and she looked at him on Television and said yes, there is a similarity between the two… his compactness, technique, stroke production… it all seemed to gel: Sir Donald Bradman

Technically he stands out as the best because of his ability to increase the pace at will: David Boon

There is no shame being beaten by such a great player, Sachin is perhaps only next to the Don: Steve Waugh

Sachin is cricket’s God: Barry Richards

India’s fortune will depend on how many runs the little champion scores. There is no doubt Tendulkar is the real thing: Sunil Gavaskar

A complete batsman — he’s the best in the business: Mohinder Amarnath

Sachin is an attacker. He has much more power than Sunny. He wants to be the one to set the pace. He has to be on top. That’s the buzz about him: Jeff Thompson

If I’ve to bowl to Sachin, I’ll bowl with my helmet on. He hits the ball so hard: Dennis Lillee

You take Don Bradman away and he is next up I reckon: Steve Waugh

I’ll be going to bed having nightmares of Sachin just running down the wicket and belting me back over the head for six. He was unstoppable. I don’t think anyone, apart from Don Bradman, is in the same class as Sachin Tendulkar. He is just an amazing player: Shane Warne

When it comes to judging the best among these fabulous band of batsmen, my vote goes to Tendulkar. He has an uncanny ability to come out on top under different circumstances and under different conditions, whether it is Test cricket or one-day internationals. And more importantly, he has done this so young: Shane Warne

Don’t bowl him bad balls, he hits the good ones for fours: Michael Kasprowicz

Hell, if he had stayed, even at 11 an over he would have got it: Allan Border (after India won the Coca-Cola cup in Sharjah)

He is a perfectly balanced batsman and knows perfectly well when to attack and when to play defensive cricket. He has developed the ability to treat bowlers all over the world with contempt and can destroy any attack with utmost ease: Greg Chappell

It’s scary, where the hell do we bowl to him: Allan Border

Yeah mate, but that’s with all great players: Ian Chappell

Imagine what he’ll be like when he’s 28: Allan Border

I’d like to see him go out and bat one day with a stump. I tell you he’d do okay: Greg Chappell

Sachin’s better; Lara is more risky outside the off stump: Mark Waugh

You have to decide for yourself whether you’re bowling well or not. He’s going to hit you for fours and sixes anyway. Kasprowicz has a superior story. During the Bangalore Test, frustrated, he went to Dennis Lillee and asked, “Mate, do you see any weaknesses?” Lillee replied, “No Michael, as long as you walk off with your pride that’s all you can do”

He’s a phenomenon. We have to be switched on when he plays allow him no boundries, for then he doesn’t stop: Mark Taylor

Tendulkar is the most complete batsman I have stood behind. I saw the hundred in Perth on a bouncy pitch with Hughes, McDermott and Whitney gunning for him — he only had 60-odd when No 11 came in. I’ve seen him against Warne too: Ian Healy

Harder he works, the luckier he gets: Ian Chappell

He has defined cricket in his fabulous, impeccable manner. He is to batting what Shane Warne is to bowling: Richie Benaud

Sachin’s the best. I’ve had this view since I saw him score that hundred in Sydney in 1992. He’s the most composed batsman I’ve ever seen: Mike Coward

The pressure on me is nothing as compared to Sachin Tendulkar. Sachin, like God, must never fail. The crowd always expects him to succeed and it is too much pressure on him: Mark Waugh

I still think Tendulkar is the best batsmen in the world ahead of Steve Waugh and Lara: Glenn McGrath

He is currently the best batsman in the world: Sir Gary Sobers

There’s no doubt about it. He is the best: Tony Grieg

Technically, you can’t fault Sachin. Seam or spin, fast or slow — nothing is a problem: Geoffrey Boycott

Sometime back I had written a piece that said that Sachin’s the master and Lara a genius with his head high up somewhere. That’s it: Peter Roebuck

A little genius. Reminds me of Sunny Gavaskar: Kieth Fletcher

He is Sachin Tendulkar. I hope he stays Sachin Tendulkar. We need a new player, a player in his own way. He has a technique which is the hallmark of a great player. Everything indicates that he will be a great player and I am sure he will prove me right. Reminds me of Barry Richards: Eddie Barlow

Destined to be a great: Barry Richards

What we (Zimbabwe) need is 10 Tendulkars: Paul Strang

The original little master, Sunil Gavaskar, had said that the champion cricketer was an example of the perfect batsman. Gavaskar praised Tendulkar for the stillness of his head, his straight back-lift, the ease with which he played his shots and their wide range

West Indian great Brian Lara said Sachin Tendulkar was a peerless batsman with a lot more to offer. Lara, Test cricket’s leading scorer with 11,294 runs, regarded Tendulkar the best batsman he ever watched despite the prolific success of Australian captain Ricky Ponting and South African Jacques Kallis. Lara said: “For me, the best batsman in the world is Sachin Tendulkar. I admire Jacques Kallis’ consistency and Ricky Ponting, with the purple patch he’s going though. Everybody gets 15 minutes of fame. But if there’s one person I’ve admired over a 15-year period, it’s definitely Sachin.”

The fact of the matter is that India still need Sachin in a big way. All this talk of the youngsters taking over is very foolish. The reason why Tendulkar is so important for the team is because of his ability to inspire others and make them perform under pressure – TOI

Not only did Tendulkar continue playing, but he also emerged as one of the finest batsmen to grace the game and was regarded by the great Don Bradman as his modern reincarnation. Greg Chappell too is impressed with Sachin. The Australian believes the hype and expectations on Sachin is greater than even Bradman faced in his day

The Indian coach said: Sachin carries a weight of collective expectation to the crease that few can comprehend. Bradman would not have had the weight of expectation that Sachin has on him every time he went out to bat.”

“Cricketers like Sachin come once in a lifetime and I am privileged he played in my time,” said Pakistan legend Wasim Akram

Many hold Tendulkar’s mastery of the craft high above anyone else in the modern era. Even the great Sir Don Bradman saw Sachin as his closest replica, indirectly branding the batting maestro better than Gavaskar- TOI

But the finest compliment must be that bookmakers would not fix the odds – or a game – until Tendulkar was out

WHEN TENDULKAR GOES OUT TO BAT, IT IS BEYOND CHAOS- IT IS A FRANTIC APPEAL BY A NATION TO ONE MAN. -MATTHEW HAYDEN

Freaking out and enjoying life doesn’t need drugs or cigarettes

There are relationships apart from Bf/Gf, marriage, siblings, friendship that can be very emotional and true which is beyond the understanding of many people

And yeah even though U may be the best of friends there is always a limit which should never be crossed. Then it starts hurting…

Improving U r imperfections after you realize it, always take some time

You always don’t need to show or prove your Gf/Bf how much U love or care about her/him, which can sound very boring and finally U R dumped

Believe in Love , true love will never let you down

Never be ashamed to go back to your old friends, friends are there to understand your mistakes

Do not be afraid of others, always think that others are afraid of you. (remember the Australian Beggar at the railway station)

Whenever you need your friend, remember that he is just a phone call away…distances can’t separate friends

In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends

It’s the friends you can call up at 4 A. M. that matter

The only unchangeable certainty is that nothing is certain or unchangeable

The best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch and swing with never say a word, and then walk away with a feeling like it was the best conversation you’ve ever had

And last but not the least- do what your heart loves
Karo wahi jo, DIL CHAHTA HAI !!!

A debt should be paid off till the last penny, and an enemy should be destroyed without a trace

A human being should strive for four things in life — dharma (duty), artha (money), kama (pleasure) and moksha (salvation). A person who hasn’t striven for even one of these things has wasted life

A man is great by deeds, not by birth

A person should not be too honest. Just as straight trees are chopped-down first, honest people are taken advantage of first

A rich man has many friends

A woman is four times as shy, six times as brave and eight times as lusty as a man

An egoist can be won over by being respected, a crazy person can be won over by allowing him to behave in an insane manner and a wise person can be won over by truth

As centesimal droppings will fill a pot so also are knowledge, virtue and wealth gradually obtained. As soon as the fear approaches near, attack it and destroy it

Avoid him who talks sweetly before you but tries to ruin you behind your back, for he is like a pitcher of poison with milk on top

Before you start any work, always ask yourself three questions — Why am I doing it? What the results might be? And Will I be successful? Only when you think deeply and find satisfactory answers to these questions, go ahead

Books are as useless to a stupid person as a mirror is useful to a blind person

Education is the best friend. An educated person is respected everywhere. Education surpasses the beauty and the youth

Even if a snake is not poisonous, it should pretend to be

God is not present in idols. Your feelings are your god. The soul is your temple

He who befriends a man whose conduct is vicious, whose vision impure, and who is notoriously crooked, is rapidly ruined

Don’t hesitate to learn something even from the most lowly of creatures

In a state where the ruler lives like a common man, the citizens live like kings. And in the state where the ruler lives like a king, the citizens live like beggars

Jealousy is another name for failure

Never go on a long journey alone

Never make friends with people who are above or below you in status. Such friendships will never give you any happiness

Variant version: Friendship should be among equals

Once you start working on something, don’t be afraid of failure and don’t abandon it. People who work sincerely are the happiest

One who is in search of knowledge should give up the search of pleasure and the one who is in search of pleasure should give up the search of knowledge

The biggest guru-mantra is: Never share your secrets with anybody. It will destroy you

The four greatest enemies of a man are — the father who has taken a loan, the characterless mother, the beautiful but promiscuous wife and the stupid child

The fragrance of flowers spreads only in the direction of the wind. But the goodness of a person spreads in all directions

The world’s biggest power is the youth and beauty of a woman

There is some self-interest behind every friendship. There is no friendship without self-interests. This is a bitter truth

Whores don’t live in company of poor men, birds don’t build nests on a tree that doesn’t bear fruits and citizens never support a weak administration

Wise men should never go into a country where there are no means of earning one’s livelihood, where the people have no dread of anybody, have no sense of shame, no intelligence, or a charitable disposition

Whoever imposes severe punishment becomes repulsive to the people; while he who awards mild punishment becomes contemptible. But whoever imposes punishment as deserved becomes respectable. For punishment when awarded with due consideration, makes the people devoted to righteousness and to works productive of wealth and enjoyment; while punishment, when ill-awarded under the influence of greed and anger or owing to ignorance, excites fury even among hermits and ascetics dwelling in forests, not to speak of householders

If a king is energetic, his subjects will be equally energetic. If he is reckless, they will not only be reckless likewise, but also eat into his works. Besides, a reckless king will easily fall into the hands of his enemies. Hence the king shall ever be wakeful

All urgent calls he shall hear at once, but never put off; for when postponed, they will prove too hard or impossible to accomplish

A person should not be too honest. Straight trees are cut first and Honest people are victimised first

Even if a snake is not poisonous, it should pretend to be venomous

The biggest guru-mantra is: Never share your secrets with anybody. ! It will destroy you

There is some self-interest behind every friendship. There is no Friendship without self-interests. This is a bitter truth

Before you start some work, always ask yourself three questions – Why am I doing it, What the results might be and Will I be successful. Only when you think deeply and find satisfactory answers to these questions, go ahead

The fragrance of flowers spreads only in the direction of the wind. But the goodness of a person spreads in all direction

A man is great by deeds, not by birth

Treat your kid like a darling for the first five years. For the next five years, scold them. By the time they turn sixteen, treat them like a friend. Your grown up children are your best friends

Books are as useful to a stupid person as a mirror is useful to a blind person

Education is the best friend. An educated person is respected everywhere. Education beats the beauty and the youth

Once upon a time in a village, a man appeared and announced to thevillagers that he would buy monkeys for Rs10.
The villagers seeing that there were many monkeys around, went out to the forest and started catching them.
The man bought thousands at Rs10 and as supply started to diminish, thevillagers stopped their effort. He further announced that he would now buyat Rs20. This renewed the efforts of the villagers and they started catching monkeys again.
Soon the supply diminished even further and people started going back totheir farms. The offer rate increased to Rs25 and the supply of monkeysbecame so little that it was an effort to even see a monkey, let alone catch it!
The man now announced that he would buy monkeys at Rs50! However, since hehad to go to the city on some business, his assistant would now buy onbehalf of him.
In the absence of the man, the assistant told the villagers. Look at all these monkeys in the big cage that the man has collected. I will sell themto you at Rs35 and when the man returns from the city, you can sell it tohim for Rs50.”
The villagers squeezed up with all their savings and bought all the monkeys.
Then they never saw the man nor his assistant, only monkeys everywhere!! !
Welcome to the “Stock” Market!!!!!

Boom Crash Bang!
Make way people….for here comes the superhero! For a change, this time, it’s not a he, it’s a she! The world knows her as Priyanka Chopra; the girl who has attempted almost everything that others can only dream of: Miss World, model, and now a movie star, without ever compromising on her Numero Uno position
When others were running around the bushes romancing their ‘normal’ heroes, Priyanka went a step further to romance a superhero in ‘Krrish’, which was India’s answer to the likes of Superman and Batman
And now, life has come a full circle for her, as ‘Virgin Comics’ has created a new superhero character after Priyanka, which will be furthered to comic books, animation and games. Priyanka said that since she loves cartoons and animations, being able to create her own original superhero with Virgin’s amazing group of artists and storytellers was ‘a dream come true’! The superhero will be an adopted girl who discovers that she is the latest in the line of princesses with great mystical powers and a sworn duty to take down evil wherever it lurks. The so-far untitled story is expected to have a 2008 launch, which will be further taken into animation games and even a theatrical live-action film! What remains to be seen is if this beauty will succeed in her animated duty.

If we say that he is a man who not only walks Bollywood, but also talks, runs, sleeps, and even gets up Bollywood, then, we will be wrong big time. Actually, it’s the other way round. It’s Bollywood that runs, walks, sleeps and gets up with him! To write about him, one needs to hire a person, who can think beyond A-Z, coz’ if one has to pen something about this man; even 26 alphabets won’t be enough! Well, he is none other than the man of all reasons and the man of all seasons…..the one and only Shah Rukh Khan! He is a living example of what hard work can do to a person! It’s not just his films, but every action of his becomes a national event, an event that evokes a certain magnetism that everyone just get swayed by (t)his pull! And what can be more apt for this man, than on his birthday, that we spoke to his closest associates and asked them to tell us something about SRK that you would like to know…that we would loooooooooove to know. We asked them 2 Questions: 1. Which is the one thing that you like about Shah Rukh the most?2. One thing about SRK that the world doesn’t know, but should know? Over to you folks… If we say that he is a man who not only walks Bollywood, but also talks, runs, sleeps, and even gets up Bollywood, then, we will be wrong big time. Ritesh Sidhwani The one thing that I like about the inimitable SRK is the fact that he always spreads positive energy and vibrations all over the place. You can just count on him even at 2 in the night! And it is this positivity about this man that eventually grows over you, so much so that you start missing him when he is not around! That’s’ SRK for you. As far as one unknown thing about him is concerned, I feel that he has got some kind of magnet attached to his body. Maybe that’s how he has got such a great ‘pull’ over others! Arjun Rampal The one thing that I like about SRK is the fact that he is a very humble person and so-very down to earth. And the one thing about him that the world doesn’t know is the fact that he is trying to quit smoking Vidya Malvade The one thing that I like about SRK is the fact that he is the fantastic actor and an even better human being. He is what fun and youth is all about, even at this age! I wish there was something that I knew about him that the world didn’t know! His life is an open book for all!Sajid Khan The one thing that I like about SRK is his intelligence and that he also happens to be the nicest human being I have ever met in my life. Barry John The one thing that I like about SRK is his energy level and his ability to infuse excitement in projects that wouldn’t have garnered as much attention otherwise. I also appreciate Shah Rukh’s dedication towards his work. And the one thing about SRK that I feel the world doesn’t know, but should know is the fact that SRK ensures his efforts are appreciated by his fans as well as the people around him. Archana Puran Singh The one thing that I like about SRK is his cheeks. And for the unknown aspect of his, I feel that he hides his insecurities with his charms and bravado. Hrishita Bhatt The one thing that I like about SRK is that he is not just a wonderful human being, but possesses immense energy. As far as one unknown thing about SRK is concerned, I wish that I knew about it. All that I can think of him is the fact that SRK is very humble and very down to earth, not only on screen, but even in real life.Jackie Shroff The one thing that I like about SRK is that he is very focused and dedicated towards work, just like my younger brother Anil Kapoor. As far as the one unknown thing about him is concerned, there is nothing unknown about him. Amrita Rao The one thing that I like about SRK is the fact that he still looks the same as he looked like a newcomer. As far as one unknown thing about him is concerned, I not only feel, but, I am very sure about the fact that he is an extraordinary man blessed with extraordinary talent and energy. He is nothing short of being a ‘Midas Touch’ man! Farah KhanThe one thing that I like about SRK is his sense of humor. And for his unknown aspect, I feel that he eats the same food, day in and day out, which happens to be ‘Tandoori Chicken’ and ‘Salad’, since the last 15 years.
